EXCEL 2016 & ALERE

Using 32 bit Excel 2016 with ALERE 7.2 or higher.

It appears that installing Excel 2016 removes some ODBC information that ALERE uses. It could be one or both of the items below.

After installing Excel 2016, you need to go to your Control Panel, Administrative Tools and open the  "ODBC Data Source Administrator (32-bit)" screen.

On the DRIVERS Tab, you must have the driver:

"Microsoft Excel Driver (xls, xlsx, xlsm, xlsb)".

If you do not have it you can go to:

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=39358

and download the driver.

The second step is to go to the USER DSN tab. You need an entry there of:

Excel Driver       32-bit        Microsoft Excel Driver (xls, xlsx, xlsm, xlsb)

This should allow running ALERE with Excel 2016, 32-bit.
